Sounds like a really nice meteor fireball was seen quite widely over the UK at around 20:01UT. Here’s the first public video I’ve seen of it (below). Quick scan of @UKMeteorNetwork’s excellent live fireball webpage shows it was also picked up by their network cameras too.

If you were an eyewitness or have footage of tonight's #fireball over the UK, please submit a report with @UKMeteorNetwork at: ukmon.imo.net/members/imo/re This information is very useful and can help us to map the trajectory of the fireball and recover any potential #meteorites ☄️

Watch the skies tonight for a potential #fireball visible from northern France and Germany, as well as many places in the UK. The object, #asteroid #Sar2667, is estimated at ~1m in size and predicted to harmlessly impact at approx. 03:07 UTC. ☄️

Thank you all who cake to my LPSC talk yesterday. As nerve racking as it was, I really enjoyed presenting and answering all the thought-provoking questions that came my way. #LPSC2023

Newly-discovered asteroid 2023 DZ2 will sail safely past Earth today. Asteroids pass our planet safely all the time, but a close approach by one of this size (140–310 ft, or 43–95 m) happens only about once per decade. (There is no known threat for at least the next 100 years.)

Some great clips appearing of a bright meteor bolide that was widely seen from the UK, France, Belgium & the Netherlands during twilight yesterday morning. Reports here: fireball.imo.net/members/imo_vi… & videos at youtu.be/Otp83cWW5Mo and below. UK Fireball Alliance

Really excited to see what this instrument can do for meteor science, too. It should be able to catch large bolides (which will look similar to the lightning flashes it’s designed to detect). Could be helpful for UK Fireball Alliance meteorite recovery work.

Where did the #Winchcombe meteorite come from? And how did it end up crash landing on a driveway? New paper about the #fireball from Sarah McMullan Denis Vida Hadrien D et al. @UKMeteorNetwork UK Fireball Network UK Fireball Alliance onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Here's the 6th May #meteorite fall near Stoke-on-Trent as seen from an AllSky7 #fireball camera run by Ben Stanley. Let's hope someone finds the #spacerock

Last night's #meteorite fall in England, as seen from two cameras in Ben Stanley's #AllSky7 #fireball system in Nuneaton. We know more-or-less where this rock landed, but it doesn't meet out search criteria so Plan B is being hatched.
