In new research, ChangHui Pak in @UMassBMB found a major decrease in the release of neurotransmitters in the brains of patients with schizophrenia who have a rare, single-gene mutation. This may help in developing drugs to better treat schizophrenia. ow.ly/5CJR50FxH6k

A rainy July is great for slugs and other leaf eating bugs and less great for American Chestnut seedlings - but all are doing well. Bruce 'the brute' thrives while Margaret & Leif are making progress. Leif is doing well considering that he was uprooted by a squirrel in May.
