Congrats to Dr.Matthew McLean & PhD student,Adrian Gonzalez-Ortiz,on their $400k U.S. National Science Foundation EMBRACE grant. This will support Adrian’s work in the McLeanLab (how fish assemblages are contributing to nutrient cycling, biomass production, & resource consumption in EU Large Marine Ecosystems)

CONGRATS to Professor Joe Pawlik, UNCW Biology & Marine Biology Department, on having a new sea squirt species named for him, "Clavelina pawliki!" Susanna López-Legentil, and co-author Xavi Turon, JUST published a description of this beautiful new sea squirt species. doi.org/10.3390/taxono…

🎉New paper🚨 Interested in 3D imaging of the nervous system of fishes or reptiles? Check out UNCW Biology & Marine Biology Department's Kara Yopak's Kara Yopak latest collaborative publication on imaging! doi.org/10.1002/ar.255… The Anatomical Record

Congrats The Ushijima Lab on the new publication! Read more about the corals here pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39187231/

🚨New paper in Current Biology led by @Eva__Maire examines global patterns and drivers of nutritional value in coral reef fish communities. Heavily fished communities dominated by herbivores and detritivores actually have higher average nutritional value! authors.elsevier.com/c/1jnVT3QW8S6G…

Congratulations Dr. Matthew McLean on the new publication in Current Biology "Managing nutrition-biodiversity trade-offs on coral reefs" Read it here doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.… Keywords: reef fisheries, reef fish communities, reef management, food and nutrition security

Congratulations Dr. Steve Emslie on the new publication in Elsevier Environment Environmental Research "Record of microplastic deposition revealed by ornithogenic soil and sediment profiles from Ross Island, Antarctica" Read it here doi.org/10.1016/j.envr…
