What is UNESCO doing to address hate speech in South Asia? We just concluded the first in a series of regional workshops, starting in Kathmandu, Nepal to counter hate speech through education.

Who joined the effort? Policymakers, teachers, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, youth educators, and media professionals from across Nepal came together for three days of intensive learning.

What did they focus on? Global Citizenship Education, Media and Information Literacy, Digital Citizenship, and Freedom of Expression—using UNESCO’s new Educators’ Handbook on Addressing Hate Speech.
