I had a great start to my visit to #Ethiopia at a refugee centre run by JRS International in Addis Ababa — an excellent example of how cooperation between the Ethiopian government, UNHCR and its NGO partners can open up huge opportunities for refugees and those hosting them.

Through nearly 10 years in my current job I have visited Ethiopia every year, including in times of war, pandemics, natural disasters. I assured President Taye Atske Selassie of UNHCR’s continued commitment to support Ethiopia — one the largest, most generous refugee hosting countries.

“Digital access is a bridge to self-reliance” - Andrew Mbogori Today, UNHCR & World Bank co-hosted the East Africa Regional Workshop on Digitalization for Displaced Populations in Nairobi. Stakeholders from 🇪🇹🇰🇪🇸🇴🇸🇸 shared insights to boost digital access for refugees & hosts.

RRS' Zewdu Bedada Debella represented 🇪🇹 at the 2025 Consultations on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways, in🇨🇭. He shared insights on 🇪🇹's national policies & practices under the Makatet Roadmap, with a focus on operationalizing the Routes-Based Approach & complementary pathways.


In support of refugees' inclusion in basic services, UNHCR donated ultrasound machines to Assosa General Hospital through its partner Medical Teams International to strengthen the hospital’s diagnostic capacity for both #refugees and host communities living in Benishangul-Gumuz 🇪🇹.
