A joint UNHCR mission from Geneva and the Nairobi Regional Bureau met with some of the 13K newly arrived🇨🇩refugees in Musenyi Site in 🇧🇮on 13/04. The mission head DESS Director Ayaki Ito and UNHCR Rep in Burundi called for more support for the dire humanitarian situation.

In Burundi, the #UN in collaboration with the Government today launched the multi-year (2025-2027) Operational Plan for the sustainable reintegration of refugee/IDP returnees, and the Batwas. #EU, Switzerland and others funded the plan. #UNHCR 🇧🇮 was the lead agency for the event

As the DRC emergency goes on, #UNHCR continues to engage with #Burundi Government, International & humanitarian partners. The coordination meeting provided to the participants an update on the influx from #DRC, and discussed the activities and remaining challenges.

As Congolese refugees continue to arrive in #Burundi, an individual registration is underway for those already settled at the Musenyi site. #UNHCRBurundi urges increased multisectoral support for over 18,000 refugees hosted at Musenyi refugee site.

Today 168 Burundian refugees from Kenya (139) and Mozambique (29) arrived by two separate flights to Bujumbura. Government of 🇧🇮, UNHCR and partners received the returnees and took them to Gihanga Transit Center, Bubanza Province before taking them back to their places of origin.
