In Papua, Indonesia immunization rates are consistently low. UNICEF Indonesia is working with community leaders and health professionals to form Father Champion Groups to engage fathers on the importance of vaccines and shared caregiving.

Across East Asia and the Pacific, vaccine-preventable diseases are making a dangerous comeback as many children are missing out on life-saving vaccines. The tools to stop these diseases already exist. UNICEF and World Health Organization (WHO) are calling for a shift from crisis response to prevention.


“I used to worry all the time. Now, I don’t have to travel far — the vaccine comes right to our village,” says Nhi, a mother in remote Viet Nam. With support from UNICEF Viet Nam and partners, health workers are reaching the most remote children with life-saving vaccines.
