Now settled into our new building, we benchmarked our Talos Arctica. With 86 micrographs collected (76 used), we got to 2.5 Å with 25 k particles in cryoSPARC, our new Arctica record! Molecular Horizons @ UOW Microscopy & Spectroscopy Structura Biotechnology

Just over a week after arrival in Wollongong UOW the Krios is now fully operational at Molecular Horizons Molecular Horizons Cryo-EM Molecular Horizons @ UOW. It passed the first image tests with flying colours, and we are looking forward to seeing what it can do!

High defocus does not attenuate high-resolution components.🌞 An excellent study by Bob Glaeser and colleagues.🤩 For good samples (many particles, homogeneous) don't jump on the defocus knob yet. Processing of high defocus data is still more demanding. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Another great tool to visualize #CryoEM data! I recently found napari: a python package that allows viewing multidimensional data. It works well with MRC stacks and volumes. Here is a simple MRC viewer script: github.com/dzyla/MRC_napa…
