Update on our officer who was injured in the OICI in Taylorsville last night. He was treated and released last night. He is home resting. Our WVCPD brother is recovering and our thoughts are with him at this time.

We’re pleased to announce our officer who was shot on December 1, was released from the hospital over the weekend. The officer was hit in the leg, and in the area between the shoulder/chest. He underwent two surgeries to repair his wounds. Thanks to all who’ve sent well wishes!

We are currently investigation a shooting in Magna near 2600 S and 7300 W. A 20 year old male has been confirmed to be the only victim and has passed away. Our Violent Crimes Unit is working the investigation and will provide updates as they become available.

We have identified the victim of yesterday's homicide as 20 year-old Fernando Ruesga of Magna. Our thoughts are with the family of Fernando as they grieve. Our detectives are continuing to work dilligently to solve this case.
