Windy McLaw Thank you for your question. The Army anticipates the summer peak every year, however this year there are factors that are out of our control. I’m aware in some areas there are labor shortage impacting our transportation service providers

Windy McLaw and it has resulted in delays scheduling HHG pick-ups. Our team is continuing to do all they can to meet the needs of our service members but here are some steps you can take to improve your moving experience, if needed:

Windy McLaw 1) Go to the Transportation Office to schedule your move as soon as soon you get orders – don’t’ wait.

Windy McLaw 2) If your local transportation service providers are unable to schedule your move on a timeline that gets you to your location by your report date, contact your chain of command immediately to discuss options such as requesting a short-term deferment to change your report date

Windy McLaw 3) Consider executing a Personally Procured Move (PPM) which are now 100% reimbursable. PPM advances are payable up to 45-days before pick-up date and your government travel card should be used for costs associated with your PCS move.

Windy McLaw If you’re not interested in conducting a PPM, DO NOT expend personal funds.

Windy McLaw 4) Do not leave your family to handle the move by themselves without verifying your report dates cannot be changed.

Windy McLaw 5) Call your local installation transportation office to speak with a Quality Assurance inspector if you have any concerns.
