Great to have Craig Lawrie fron DESY (English) visiting us UW-Madison Physics this week. His talk on “Generalized symmetry constraints on deformed 4d (S)CFTs is now on our YouTube channel: youtu.be/ALKNwSCkhqg?si…

Congratulations to the UW–Madison physicists and UW-Madison Physics collaborators at the Large Hadron Collider CERN honored with the Breakthrough Prize this weekend, including DSI Director Kyle Cranmer. Data science and AI have been key to advancing particle physics research.

We're excited to have over 100 ATLAS and CMS researchers named on this prize! Read about the work UW scientists contributed at physics.wisc.edu/2025/04/15/uw-… Kyle Cranmer UWResearch UW-Madison L&S UW–Madison Science datascience@uw ATLAS Experiment CMS Experiment CERN

New UW–Madison physics professor Jakob Moritz's work was recently selected as an editor's suggestion in Physical Review D 🎉

Graduate student Alicia Mand was among over 50 other graduate students and postdocs across campus who were selected to present at UW–Madison Day at the Capitol today. Alicia spoke with policymakers, alumni and community members about neutrino astronomy at the South Pole.

An action packed week in Japan: KEK workshop on Topological Analysis in Data Science: kek.jp/ja/research/co… then a seminar on the weak gravity conjecture: www2.kek.jp/theory-center/… and finally a talk on “Topology and Brain Science” RIKEN 理化学研究所(理研) UW-Madison Physics

I’m at a symposium in honor of Vernon Barger remembering the glory days of Pheno UW-Madison Physics. Listening to Dieter Zeppenfeld (one of my PhD advisors) talking about the subject of my thesis: Vector Boson Scattering (jet veto & VBF H→ ττ). Nice memories. agenda.hep.wisc.edu/event/2212/

Congrats to our 2025 Astronaut Scholars: Nathan Wagner (UW-Madison Physics) & Nicholas Rienstra (UW-Madison College of Engineering) for their STELLAR dedication to innovation in STEM. 🚀🌟 astronautscholarship.org/scholars/alumn…

On June 23, NSF-DOE Rubin Observatory will release its first-ever images, and UW-Madison Physics wants YOU at the (free) watch party! Don't miss out on cake, coffee, and the next era of astronomy! 📍 Chamberlin Hall 🕙 Livestream starts at 10am CT 🎤 Q&A panel to follow, moderated by Dean Wilcots

First images of the greatest cosmic movie ever made will be released by the Vera C. Rubin Observatory on Monday, & one of the “directors” is UW-Madison Physics Prof. Keith Bechtol. Join the watch party to learn more about the observatory and UW's involvement!👇news.wisc.edu/uw-madison-phy…

Stunning first images from the world’s largest digital camera at NSF-DOE Rubin Observatory. And big shoutout to @uwmadphysics associate professor Keith Bechtol who helped make this celestial milestone happen! 🔭🪐✨nbcnews.com/science/space/…

Scientists just made the shortest X-ray laser pulses ever—as short as 60 attoseconds (that’s a billionth of a billionth of a second)! @slaclab UW-Madison Physics newscenter.lbl.gov/2025/06/24/ato…
