This week, UNAIDS, NAC, MoH, UNODC & several CSOs met to finalize the national guidelines for Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) for the treatment of substance use disorders, a key framework for improving access to services & a milestone for reducing HIV transmission among PWIDs.

In Zambia, we’ve made progress in controlling HIV & reaching the 95-95-95 targets, but Key Populations, incl. PWID, are still lagging behind. Stigma, discrimination & lack of comprehensive Harm Reduction strategies like MAT remain major barriers to overcome. UN Zambia

Last week, UNAIDS, MoH, NAC and LGAZ were in Katete & Monze, districts w/ high HIV incidence under the RAPHIZ programme, to assess the impact of USG funding cuts on health facilities & services for young people. While most services remain, HIV & SRH commodity access is affected.

Today we welcomed Mr René Lauer & Ms Lee Weisgerber from MFA Luxembourg 🇱🇺 (Luxembourg’s Directorate for Development Cooperation & Humanitarian Action) to learn more about UNAIDS Global's work on HIV/AIDS in Zambia, largely supported by 🇱🇺. Grateful for the collaboration & continued partnership.

Today, the Chinese Delegation met UN RC Beatrice Mutali, the UN Joint Team on AIDS, the Zambian PLHIV Constituency & KP Consortium. These exchanges were valuable for learning about different approaches to AIDS in both countries and sparked ideas for future collaboration. #EndAIDS
