Good meeting in parliament today with Unite the union: join a union reps and members about the funding crisis facing councils. We need fair and proper funding for local government so that our brilliant public sector workers can deliver the services we all rely on.


Great to meet with Unite the union: join a union reps & members to discuss the funding crisis facing councils across the country. After Uniteβs national day of action, one thing is clear: local government & the vital services we all rely on are at breaking point. It's time to end this crisis.

After years of #austerity and bad decisions, our local authorities are in crisis - jobs cut, services cut, libraries and community centres shut. Make no mistake - Unite the union: join a union will fight cuts, we will fight for decent pay and we will fight for fair funding. No ifs no buts. π½οΈ


I was proud to speak at a rally of local government workers from Unite the union: join a union outside the Houses of Parliament on Monday. We call on the government to provide our councils with the resources they desperately need. No more cuts to services or workers' pay! (Part one)





πͺ§ Birmingham's striking bin workers made their presence felt at the Local Government Association (LGA) Local Govt Association conference in Liverpool today. π£οΈ They are calling on Bham City Council leader John Cotton to step up and join the negotiations to bring an end to the prolonged bin strike.


Yesterday our branch agreed to make a donation to the Birmingham bin workers. These are Unite the union: join a union comrades fighting to stop their pay being slashed, & if Birmingham council gets away with it other councils will do the same to other workers across the country. Solidarity β



How convenient, eh? On the same day Birmingham Council say they will walk away from negotiations with Unite the union: join a union. Labour is watering down the employment rights bill to let them get away with fire and rehire.
