Summer break is here, but some of our students are taking the opportunity to gain real world experience in industry and research. We'll follow some of them to give you an insight of their experiences and how their classroom learning is being utilized in the real world.

Chemical engineering major and rising junior Caroline Tiller is beginning her internship as a process engineer at Ingredion in South Sioux City, Nebraska. We're excited to follow her this summer as she learns and grows in the area of innovative ingredient manufacturing.

Intern Spotlight Nathan Wardy, Computer Eng. Centene “I’m contributing to a platform that enables access to quality healthcare for over 28 million members. My work involves collaborating with engineers to enhance core systems, improve performance and support new development."

Intern Spotlight Nick Fortino, Aerospace Engineering Nick is interning with The Boeing Company this summer. He is part of the Test & Evaluation Space Launch System Production Team at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where he will support the NASA Artemis program.

Research Spotlight This summer, chemical engineering major Giulio Siciliano is part of a summer research opportunity through the Palmetto Academy Student Program. The program encourages student participation to meet the growing need by NASA for skilled engineering workers.

Summer Research Spotlight Sydney Morris, Mechanical Engineering Morris is at Lehigh University, where she will work at the NHERI Lehigh Real-time Multi-Directional Natural Hazards Simulation Facility. It allows researchers to address key questions related to community resilience issues.

Intern Spotlight Morgan Havers, Civil Eng. Gilmore & Associates "One project I'm supporting is investigating an underground jet fuel leak. We're trying to locate the source in a residential neighborhood, where we’ve installed a temporary sound barrier to minimize disruption."
