On the occasion of International Labour Day 2025, a special event was held to honor the unwavering dedication of the forest labourers who actively participate in forestry activities such as plantation, soil work, forest conservation, conservation of forests from (1/4)

forest fires, Wildlife protection & preventing Human wildlife conflict. The celebration took place at Maulshree Auditorium, Kukrail, Lucknow. It was a heartfelt tribute to those who safeguard our forests & wildlife—an occasion to recognize their vital contribution to nature (2/4)

and society. On this occasion Health check-up camps were also organized for the dedicated forest labourers. In addition, essential items such as umbrellas, water bottles, shoes, and safety gear were distributed to the them as a token of appreciation for their hard work and (3/4)

In a joint operation today in Lucknow, A pod of 6 stranded gangetic river dolphins (GRD) was successfully rescued from Sharda canal near Anchali Khera village and released in Ghaghra (Saryu) in Bahraich, UP. This urgent rescue involved 24 hours of reconnaissance, (1/6)

meticulous planning, mock drills and on-site night camping as well as 12 hours of on-ground operations by 5 trained primary and rapid response teams. This rescue was tricky as two lactating mothers were part of the pod with calves. All four females and two calves (2/6)

were cardorned, restrained and translocated in wee hours to avoid heat shocks and local crowds. Precautions were taken that mother and calves restrained, transported and released together to enhance the chances of non-dissociations. This marks the biggest successful (3/6)

GRD anywhere in its range. Since the inception of such efforts in UP, a total of 40 individuals have been rescued since 2013. 2400 individuals of GRD are found in UP and they get stranded in vast canal networks during the flash flood and water release. If not rescued, (4/6)

they may die to heat socks or in irrigation infrastructure or harmed by locals. This operation was conducted under the guidance of Mr Sunil Chaudhary, PCCF & HoFF, UP Mrs Anuradha Vemuri, PCCF (Wildlife), UP and Dr Renu Singh, CCF Central region and led (5/6)
