There is a lot of rumors surrounding the recently signed Assembly Bill 392. AB 392 actually started out as a terrible bill based on the way Assemblywoman Weber initially wrote it. After a lot of lobbying and hard work from PORAC, SEBA, ALADS, UPOA/PMA, Ca Chiefs Assoc, Ect...

... the initial and dangerous verbiage was revised/removed. CA use of force (UOF) legislation hasn’t been amended since the late 1800’s, and this new bill only mirrors our current UOF policies and practices. The slight language clean up that ended up in AB 392 doesn’t...

...require officers to ‘relearn’ when to use deadly force as we already are taught and train to avoid deadly force unless it is our last/only option to protect life. Don’t let politicians spin this bill into a win for the anti-police groups....

...These anti-police groups ended up not supporting AB 392 after it was amended.
