🤖👩👴🏼👱🏽‍♀️👨🏾👩🏿🤖 "we demonstrate (...) that #LargeLanguageModels can indeed augment human intelligence to help more efficiently run Polis conversations" If #generativeAI can be effectively matched with Po.Is, the potential for #citizenparticipation is huge!

All voices are equal, all voices must be heard.⚖ This is not lip service. This is the essence of democracy & why the Polis-powered Alignment Assemblies are a safe, sustainable & inclusive path toward global AI governance.🗳 More on #TIME100AI ▶️ time.com/collection/tim…

What does it mean for AI development to be more democratic? To find out, we partnered with Collective Intelligence Project to use @usepolis to curate an AI constitution based on the opinions of ~1000 Americans. Then we trained a model against it using Constitutional AI.

Yes it can! Community Notes is based on Polis, open source technology deployed by the policy innovation units of three national governments: Ministry of Digital Affairs 數位發展部 🇹🇼, Policy Lab UK and Sitra (Finland) Read: wired.com/story/elon-mus… via Carl Miller

Tushant Jha (TJ) jsd paul Andrew Critch (🤖🩺🚀) Polis yes govtech along the lines of Community Notes & Polis is precisely what we need more of. LLMs can help quite a bit, as we show in the paper, though we need much more experimentation in settings where real important collective decisions are being made.

The original envisioned use case for Polis, from Occupy Wall Street and Arab Spring era; real time goal formation among leaderless movements via collective intelligence software

💬 How do words like woke, misinformation, & nationalism vary across political divides? Try the Bridging Dictionary by MIT Center for Constructive Communication to see how language reflects polarization & suggests ways to bridge gaps. 🌉 🔗 Blog: shorturl.at/F6vjZ 🛠️ Prototype: bridgingdictionary.org

Sabine Hossenfelder Guille like, the algo behind CN (Polis) gets used for far more impactful things than social media checking, such as Taiwanese govt public petitions. it's a very robust system! a screenshot of _unaccepted_ nonsense isn't proof of a problem, it's the system working as intended.

Soo cool!! Also allows for lots of interesting LLM tools to support conversations (eg have a separate interface where people see real-time summaries or AI suggested bridging statements)

Pol.is 's long awaited API to read real-time survey data, as well as the resumed CSV downloads. Alongside with the advancement of Polis itself, these features will help communities to explore a wide variety of options and co-create extraordinary features.

One of the things I had been hoping to examine is how statements were elevated when those had bridging power. Together with its power of clustering the groups, I hope to see how major statements or other statements got closer and closer, leaving polarized, less popular ones aside
