Jacqueline Ut's Griller album. One of the most enjoyable writing experiences I've had was a book chapter about Ut in which I quoted Albini praising the Blast First 'Nothing Short of Total War' compilation on a chat forum on his website.

Two mix tapes that Steve Albini sent me in 1984 after I wrote about Big Black in my fanzine Hit the Trail. (I was 16 or 17.) Incredible: first time that I heard Ivor Cutler, Wipers, Scratch Acid, Friction, Slovenly, Cravats, etc., etc. What a sweetheart.
