Chris Korte, who's from Colorado, also Monday Q'd for Utah's Black Desert Championship. He gets through more than his share of these things, which are practically impossible. This will be his fourth tournament in 2 seasons, starting with BDC last October.

Credit to Navy Hubbs, the UGA Utah Girls' Junior champion, for an even-par last nine of the USGA event in Atlanta. She shot 83-74. Hubbs joins Whitni Johnson, Saydie Wagner and Kaylee Westfall next week in AZ for the Girls Jr. America's Cup, conflicting with Women's State Am.

Don & Ron Branca Utah Senior Open: Legends (70+) division winner is Don Branca himself, posting 73-73 at Toana Vista GC and doubling up as an honoree and champion.

Lot of Utahns playing weekend golf: Finau in Open; Blair and Fishburn in Barracuda; Kuest, Howe and D. Summerhays in KFT event in Missouri.

Utah Women's State Am, Wasatch Mountain GC: 6 -time champ Kelsey Chugg already in with a 71, will be one of top seeds. She'll enter match-play bracket of 32 with a 38-7 record in this event.

Women's State Am, Wasatch Mountain GC: Two-time winner Steph Belnap (in with 77) will be the only senior golfer advancing to match play. In other news, the 🏆 is now next to her name on the scoreboard, as a former champion. She's a sister of BYU men's golf coach Bruce Brockbank.

Women's State Am Q round, Wasatch Mountain GC: After BYU golfers missed the 2024 event due to an Ireland tour, teammates Whitney Banz (68) of West HS and Berlin Long (69) of Lone Peak HS finish 1-2 for medalist, ahead of 6-time champ Kelsey Chugg (71). Match play R32/16 Tuesday.

Great contribution by Kareen Larson to the Utah golf community, being willing to miss the Women's State Am to coach these girls. The Utahns who played in the GJAC last summer at Soldier Hollow loved having her there.

119th Women's State Am, Wasatch Mountain GC: Semifinal matches this afternoon, Ashley Lam vs. Kate Walker and Arden Louchheim vs. Kelsey Chugg. Only one of the quarterfinal matches went beyond No. 16; Lam won 2 and 1.

119th Women's State Am: Arden Louchheim is 6 up vs. Kate Walker after the morning round of the first scheduled 36-hole final match since 1961 (format was stroke play from 1962-2009, then every match was 18 holes for the next 15 years).

The Colorado Open has been good to Carson Lundell these past three years. T6, T6 and now T3, worth $10,333. Cole Ponich earned $3,600 for T11 and Zac Jones got $830 for T50. Will be fun to see those former BYU guys in the Larry H. Miller Utah Open in Provo in two weeks.

'Monday Q' convergence in Utah today: 20 players, including 8 Utahns, for 4 spots in U.S. Amateur final qualifying at The Country Club; 8 spots available in a gigantic field at Glen Eagle GC for the Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championship, with 40+ Utahns among the contestants.

David Liechty (-3) is the only Utahn among the four players advancing to the U.S. Amateur from The Country Club's final qualifying site. Nice achievement for the Layton HS grad/Utah Tech freshman, who was the State Amateur runner-up on that course in 2023.

Monday Q, Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championship, Glen Eagle GC: With the afternoon wave on the course, the 66s have been eliminated in the quest for 8 spots. SLC's Hayden Banz (64, T3) looks good; those at 65 including BYU grads Zac Jones and Keanu Akina hoping for a playoff.
