Sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war. There was no need to mention we didn't want to keep certain players. Just quietly negotiate their sales. Now you risk teams coming at the end of the window with cheap offers which we'll have to accept and can't use for buying.

The other vicious cycle we're in is wages. You want to lower wages but you can't sell because of high wages. Then, players you buy want competitive wages with others so you give them high(ish) wages. Then, when it comes to selling you can't sell due to wages.
