Uplifting visit to BAE shipyard in Govan to see HMS GLASGOW now in one piece. The Type 26 is a serious war fighting platform, very stealthy for hunting submarines and with the space and flexibility for global strike operations. And great to talk with the brilliant workforce.

Our Fleet tanker with CSG21, RFA TIDESPRING, refuelling the Japanese destroyer JS Setogiri in the Gulf of Aden. A ‘first’ for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary with this Ally - great to see. The RFA, our superb logistical Fighting Arm without which we could not project sea power.

A very special day to reflect with over a glass of Pussers Rum in my dining room - today marks the anniversary in 1970 when the Royal Navy ended the daily rum ration and now known as Black Tot Day. Times may move on but the Royal Navy has a history matched by no other. Be proud.

After weeks at sea conducting flying operations with Allies from the Mediterranean to the South China Sea, HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH looks like she is rather enjoying her stop in Guam with our US Ally. And a very well earned rest for her crew - enjoy the run ashore.

And same for our Astute Class Hunter-Killer submarine arriving in South Korea. An SSN provides our UK carrier strike group with some serious firepower and special capabilities. And I hope our superb boat crew enjoy some very well earned relaxation …and fresh air…

I have handed over command of the Fleet to Vice Admiral Burns at BRNC last week. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to lead so many thousands of men and women. The RN is a national institution with war fighting as its raisin d’etre. Proud.

A superb evening of boxing at Britannia Royal Naval College scoping talent amongst our Navy and Marines for our squad . Some superb bouts with courage, respect and discipline shining through. As President of RN and RM boxing I am looking forward to seeing Navy fight Army soon.

I am delighted and honoured to have been announced today as the next Lieutenant-Governor of the Bailiwick of Jersey from October. A loyal Crown Dependency with a remarkable history and an exciting future, I am looking forward to being Her Majesty’s representative there.
