Congratulations Jul Oliva on winning the Fashion Entrance Scholarship! Jul’s portfolio best matched the criteria for the scholarship which included the creativity and experimentation of the sketchbook and the quality of construction of sewn items. #vccfashion #myvcc

Fashion Cycle 1 has our first-year students designing and constructing a simple sewn item like a tote bag or apron. Before the products appear on the shelves of Giving Gifts on Main St, they pepper the walls of the sewing lab with post-its full of ideas. #vccfashion #myvcc

VCC fashion concludes with a 120-hour practicum that helps students practice all they learned in school in the real world. This year half of our students were hired by their practicum placement sites! It’s a testament to our hard working students’ fashion skills! VCC

Sally Hudson, founder of the VCC Fashion program, passed away on Sept 6, 2022 in Bristol, UK at the age of 90. Her legacy lives on at VCC through her curriculum, through the instructors that she knew and mentored, and through the Sally Hudson scholarship awarded each fall.
