Our new apprentice Jack is doing his numeracy, digital literacy and communication test as he is pre enrolled on his NVQ level 2. We have had massive support from Geraint at Coleg Cambria and I can't thank him enough. We will give both apprentices as many opportunities as possible

Whilst I was swanning off playing golf my lads were shaping up the bunkers and consolidating them with the Wacker plate. The high temps and higher winds have led them to become a bit soft and after yesterday's rain we had a perfect opportunity to get them back in good order.

4 o'clock start to run an additional 3 minute cycle over the greens. Cut a few greens and started to double iron before the lads came in and started the set up and took over the mowing. Good luck to all in club champs today, it's going to be a hot one.

Apprentice workshop this afternoon, we're going through the service on the pro core. Oils and filters changed and now we are setting the tines up.

Both apprentices were having a go at fence building this afternoon. The tees have been fully over seeded after the dry spell. Greens solid tined and verticut on Monday, sprayed with wetting agent on Tuesday to go in with the rain and ironed this morning.

Full set up this morning before the rain came, as the course is packed with a society I'm replacing the worn bushes on the vibe cassettes. The lads have mounted and tested the topdresser for next week and the shed has been emptied and is being given a damn good clean.

Dry patches solid tined, greens verticut and blown before a cut. Rain on the way so this with the wetting agent should ease it all in.

Many congratulations to our stalwart and Mr Llangollen himself Tony Mash who is celebrating his 10 year anniversary at the club. There's nothing he enjoys more than doing another verticut on the greens.

MG turfcare are in to air2g2 the greens, I've got the slitter out on the fairways, a month ago I was worried about a couple of cracks showing we did pre Christmas. The season's are changing.

We have a demo robot mower in cutting the practice ground and it's doing a brilliant job. Also a massive thank you to Julien Wood who has kindly donated £100 to the course funds from the 100 club.

After yesterday's alliance I've got Wayne out with the pitchmark repair tool in preparation for today's seniors competition.

Greens hand mown, holes changed, debris blown, bunkers raked. As the maxitour event was cancelled I put down turf hardner so there will be a bit of footprinting with the iron. Long rough being cut and tree bases being strimmed.

Maintenance Monday done, all greens procored at 2.5 inch centres with 8mm times at 4 inch depth, selective scarifying, fin and jack did some hand dressing brilliantly, Wayne cleared space on the left of 9. Approaches cut, rough being cut and some chainsaw work after the storm.

Holes changed and debris blown, jack and fin were on the procore doing the temps before we topdress and seed later this week. Greens responded well after last week's feed and yesterday's solid tine, I got the legs going with a bit of hand mowing. More deep rough being cut down.
