To be clear, you're calling for a New Jersey-born bishop to be deported because you don't like that she exercised her First Amendment right by delivering a sermon in accordance with her faith imploring Trump to show empathy to people?

ā€œNaziā€ isn’t a slur. It’s a word that describes real people who earnestly believe in their ideas. Their ideas are disgusting and hateful, but of course they often do not realize it. I keep running into racists who think that it’s not white supremacist to think that white people

… or God forbid someone comes on here and says they’re me and they act like a total Fink, and then everyone thinks I’m some contracted thinking dumb dumb, who doesn’t care about the vulnerable and enjoys people feeling unsafe…

Kirsten Vangsness (@vangsness) 's Twitter Profile Photo

… so I’ve been keeping my Twitter account because I don’t want someone to swoop in here and pretend they’re me but then when that Instagram thing happened… I’m not scared about it anymore. I have faith that if someone pretended they were me, you would know.

.. all of this to say I don’t know how long I’m gonna be on here and I’m probably just going to pull the plug on it like Frodo Baggins does where he just puts on the ring and says:

The Takeaway lesson is: we need to find many ways to be in community and yes virtual community counts but if something feels strange, you get that person on the phone and talk to them with your face

But honestly, there’s another part of me like do they want us all to go away? Isn’t it good for me to be on the app made by the guy who was doing the fink salute the other day?

Something has unlaced in me. I used to be so particular about what I said online to make sure it made me feel safe and now I’m just very concerned that I am understood and that people know that I am a safe place. I am giving up this illusion of safety.

And then I thought maybe I should just erase all of my Tweets and stay? Beth Stevens came up with that idea and maybe I’ll do that or maybe I won’t. But go to blue sky cause I’ll be there for sure so all of the good pictures and things will now be there.

I don’t know about Instagram yet and sometimes I’m on TikTok… and I always exist in tangible form, and so do you. I encourage us all to use that form to hug people and trees and write in journals and participate in putting democracy back together.

A plurality of American voters chose to turn our government over to a madman and his party will do nothing to restrain him. The rest of us need to act accordingly.

Still can’t get over this fact: One of the first acts of this administration was to pardon violent January 6th insurrectionists, not to help the American worker or the American family.
