Many of us grew up with at least one spectacularly crappy parent. If that’s your story, this wonderful piece of crime fiction by C.W. Blackwell might stir up some white-knuckle memories. Published by Reckon Review.

convo from 2012... Steve Golin: Adrian, have you heard of a writer called Nic Pizzolatto? Me: Yes! I reviewed a book he wrote called Galveston. Scribner. I liked it. Steve: He's written this script called True Detective, I'll send it to you. You're going to LOVE it. I did 🙂

Here it is, my annual hype post for THE BIG CLOCK, the classic 1948 film based on Kenneth Fearing’s ingenious suspense novel. Hollywood may have sanitized it, but the Rolex-like precision of Fearing’s plot remains undiminished. Airs tonight on TCM. #TCMParty The French poster:

For CrimeReads , I wrote about author Robert Bloch, who was much more than just the man who wrote "Psycho." Typical: "I have the heart of a small boy. I keep it in a jar, on my desk." crimereads.com/robert-bloch-e

Just finished Lansdale’s MORE BETTER DEALS. The novel is a POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE pastiche, albeit with a Texas accent and more affection for its characters. It gets darker—and better—as it rows along, eliciting that slow-drowning feeling all noir junkies love. Recommended.
