Qeshm Dayrestan International Airport in Iran reported a heat index of 178°F (81°C) today. This would tie the record for highest heat index ever recorded, while the reported dew point of 97°F (36°C) would be a new world record. These are intolerable conditions for human life.

A 700 m3 rock avalanche occurred at 5.15pm in Le Freney (Maurienne Valley, France) 😳 🪨 The boulders crashed into the protective wall that had been put in place to prevent such events. A43 highway is closed. francebleu.fr/infos/societe/…

Acapulco, Mexico might have just become the first city of over a million inhabitants in the world to experience the eyewall of a Category 5 storm. Otis made history on so many levels. A storm we won't forget anytime soon.

Gamalt kort af Grindavík frá 1957 á vefnum map.is sýnir gamla sprungu eða sigdal sem fer í gegnum allan bæinn.

📹Pro-Loco Noasca

Antarctica is actively turning green. Everyone was shocked by satellite images showing moss instead of ice. In the last 40 years, the area covered by plants has increased tenfold. It seems that global warming is no joke.

(1/2) How does global warming impact extreme events like the California wildfires? While is not accurate to say that global warming caused a specific extreme event, it is accurate to say that it increased the odds of that event happening (provided it scales with temperature).
