That feeling when EVERY Democratic mayoral candidate supports increasing the number of permits for street vendors New York City Council time to pass Street Vendor Reform Package!!

We celebrate the New York City Council’s passage of Intro 47, which decriminalizes vending violations. Street vendors engage in productive economic activity and have always been an integral part of our city’s cultural fabric. cssny.org/news/entry/pro…

Huge kudos to Council Member Sandy Nurse, CM Jen Gutiérrez, Council Member Shaun Abreu & New York City Council for ensuring pay equity for grocery delivery workers & strengthening labor standards for ALL delivery workers.

“Street vendors contribute $71.2 million annually in taxes and generate nearly $300 million annually and economic activity in our city,” - Street Vendor Project

inbox: Adrienne Adams says Mayor Eric Adams has vetoed Shekar Krishnan's bill reducing misdemeanor criminal penalties for mobile food vendors to civil penalties, which passed the council 40-8 last month. Speaker says the mayor disregarded "his own staff" after negotiating on it

In the dead of night Mayor Eric Adams did Trump’s bidding and vetoed a bill that protects immigrant small business owners Our member Shekar Krishnan and lead sponsor of the measure issued a statement:

It is unconscionable that Mayor Eric Adams has chosen to veto Intro 47B, legislation that increases protections for immigrant vendors This is nothing less than an attack on our City’s most vulnerable, hardworking families & entrepreneurs NYC Street Vendor Justice Coalition Statement⬇️

BREAKING: Our street vending reform bill to protect New Yorkers and address neighborhood issues was vetoed by Mayor Eric Adams. It would protect people from losing access to education, housing, immigration, and job opportunities. His veto disregards experts’ recommendation.

Rather than move towards a more equitable system for our city's street vendors, Mayor Eric Adams is recklessly putting them in harm's way. Proud to stand with Street Vendor Project and the Street Vendor Justice Coalition!

Mayor Adams has picked a fight he will not win. He vetoed my bill to protect street vendors, which we in the City Council passed overwhelmingly. While the Mayor once again appeases Trump—who just added 10K ICE agents—New York City Council will stand up for immigrant New Yorkers.
