Yesterday my friend sent me a photo of her little girls reading my new book, she said she loves that I am writing about women who’s voices need to be heard. I have felt discouraged with writing because the market is saturated with biographies, But they are vital. Elevate women.

I taught middle school for 15 years and have been involved in education a lot longer than that. I've never seen a time when so much was asked of teachers with so little respect offered in return. It's not in any way sustainable, and we should all be speaking up about it.

Highly highly recommend Front Desk by Kelly Yang. Such a good book! Reminded me of my mom's struggle when she first came to America in her early 20s. She didn't speak English and was refused service in restaurants. A lot can change in a generation. There is hope!

I also met my eye doctor through SCBWI, and now she won the Newberry!
