Sitting home, eating dinner while watching the Cubs game is not how I expected to learn that news. Can’t even begin to explain how much Sandberg and the Cubs meant to me as a troubled young teen in the 80s. RIP Ryno.

Yes, just about every Sunday for lunch after church ⛪️ with my parents as a pre-teen in the late 70s (steak 🥩 was OK but really remember the hot rolls) 😋

In a stroke of perfection, Ryne Sandberg & Harry Caray debuted with the Chicago Cubs on the same day, also hung it up on the same day.

The heroes I once pretended to be are now the memories I treasure most.

RIP Ryno! I just don’t know what to say about this. Getting to know you and Margaret on our flights to Cooperstown was always amazing. You teasing me about being my wife’s favorite player ever. You were always a class act. You will be missed by my family and so many others! 🙏🏾#23
