I have a vintage collection of Environmental History journals (~1996-2021) that I'd like to de-accession. Is anyone interested in having paper copies? #aseh #environmentalhistory

Check out Katy Osuna's James Beard Award-winning podcast @CopperandHeat. I am psyched to be part of her exploration of #abalone as a food: copper-and-heat.simplecast.com/episodes/abalo…

Sad but not a surprise. It's time to do more about #abalone recovery for species beyond those that are ESA listed. If we wait until species are at risk of extinction, it can be too late. ucdavis.edu/climate/news/a…

Maps like this make me imagine millions of birds that once followed up the central valley and continued north to big lakes and marshes in eastern Oregon! Writing my first book, about wetland history annvileisis.com/wetlands -I was sobered to become aware of changes/ losses!

Recently gave a number of talks in #SoCal about #abalone history and met lots of great people who care about restoring marine ecosystems. My time in Laguna Beach with Jinger Wallace and Get Inspired was a highlight!

A nice article by Matt Werner about restoration of native oysters to SF Bay. Of course, I like the way history is interwoven to give perspective on this cool conservation effort. oaklandside.org/2023/07/12/oys…

These awe-inspiring wild rivers, rare plants, & salmon habitats are located in my "public lands backyard"--and are truly NATIONAL TREASURES! Thank you, Thank you Representative Val Hoyle and Rep. Jared Huffman for introducing #SOWSPA to give them the protection they deserve from mining pollution!

Honored to help inspire Ryan's excellent Beck research project and glad to have had him in Port Orford for the summer! His findings make me especially concerned about the future of Oregon's Flat abalone, which has received the least attention of any West Coast species.
