Excited to have a chapter out in this splendid new volume on Fascist Italy’s decade of war: 1935-45. Many thanks to editors Marco Maria Aterrano and Karine Varley for all their hard work!

As we conclude our survey of Fascist Italy and turn to Nazi Germany in #HIS1404 this week, some helpful thoughts on drawing present-day comparisons to these historical fascist regimes from Robert Ventresca @kingsatwestern

This is timely as #HIS1404 History at King's summer students submit their essays on the "clean Wehrmacht" today.

#HIS1404 and #HIS3308 students may want to "attend" Richard Evans's talk tomorrow (11:30am EDT) on his new book, Hitler Conspiracies. Register to watch it here: crowdcast.io/e/hitlerconspi… I guarantee this will be better than the History Channel version! History at King's @Aly_Meek

My colleague Bryan McClure with a fascinating thread on the impact of the First World War on sports, starting with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Looking forward to following this discussion all week long. #HIS2179 #History2172 History at King's

A little more than 85 years from the day that Fascist Italy embarked upon its “decade of war” by invading Ethiopia, this book arrives at my doorstep. My chapter spans most of that decade. Thanks to Marco Aterrano and Karine Varley for seeing it to print!

Honoured and excited to be taking part in the US Holocaust Museum’s Silberman Faculty Seminar on Holocaust photography, which begins today. It’s going to be an intense two weeks. Sure to gain plenty of new material and ideas for teaching King's at Western. ushmm.org/research/oppor…

Thoroughly enjoyed attending (virtually) this year’s Society for Intelligence History conference and being part of a wonderful panel on Italian and German intelligence in the interwar period, featuring Jessi Gilchrist and Marcus Faulkner. Thanks to Calder Walton for chairing!

Spent a lovely afternoon in Niagara-on-the-Lake with Tim Compeau, Thomas Peace and their Huron History Dept & Community History Centre students visiting Fort George NHS, Parks Canada before they headed back out onto Lake Ontario. What an amazing experiential learning course! Thanks for letting me tag along for part of it.

Our award-winning student research Juno Beach Centre exhibit, “From Dieppe to Juno: Exceptional Destinies”, will be on display at King’s from Nov 7 until Remembrance Day in the Spriet Learning Commons. #APlaceToBe #ResearchExcellence History at King's kings.uwo.ca/about-kings/me…
