The reality for many tech workers is that an algorithm decides when they work, how much they earn, and whether they stay on the platform. There’s no transparency. No way to challenge decisions. Invisible control is still control. And Africa’s tech workers deserve better.

The absence of a minimum wage in Uganda is no longer a policy oversight. It is a form of institutionalised economic injustice. It undermines the dignity of workers, traps them in poverty, and impedes inclusive growth.

Very inhumane. Every worker, irrespective of his or her employment status, deserves to work under safe and satisfactory working conditions.

Earlier today, we brought together unions, MPs and digital worker reps to share the #FairDigitalKazi Manifesto and push for fair digital work in Uganda. With 113th International Labour Conference on the horizon, we discussed legal gaps, policy priorities & national commitments.
