Welcome proposed changes to SA legislation would help landholders manage the impacts of #feralcats on wildlife & livestock. Removing the 1km from a residence restriction would allow landholders to trap & humanely euthanise #feralcats on their properties. abc.net.au/news/2024-11-2…

"Not just nestlings were killed...numerous eggs cracked open & six breeding mothers killed." Tree hollows & food trees used by #endangered #Blackcockatoos are increasingly rare, & it doesn't help their population when #cats add to their demise. #feralcats. watoday.com.au/national/weste…

👏 A great turnout at a 🐇 control workshop providing Southwest landholders access to the R5 calicivirus. #feralcats, #foxes & dingoes all consume rabbits. Check out lbginc.org.au & geocatch.asn.au for more info.

Quite possibly one of the clearest summaries as to why change is both possible and necessary for the permanent containment of pet cats in Western Australia. Let's get this change happening now! watoday.com.au/national/weste…

The cost of permanent containment for pet cats can be cheaper than one vet bill to treat a roaming-related accident (car strike, animal attack). Suitable containment solutions can also be done in a temporary way for renters. Time to rethink the problem. abc.net.au/news/2025-05-2…

There are many dangers your cat may face when roaming. With 2 in 3 cat owners having lost a cat to a roaming related accident, many people are already making the choice to keep their cats contained. What a great initiative @RSPCA_Vic!👏 Find out more: rethinkroaming.com.au

What do WA local governments want when it comes to responsible cat ownership? What have they tried? What do they want to do? What are their challenges? We asked them! 78% of LGAs in WA would do permanent containment for pet cats if there was a clear pathway to implementation.
