Good to speak today with 🇷🇴Minister Mircea Fechet as part of my outreach to all Member States on the 2040 climate target. We had a constructive exchange on our goals as well as the Social Climate Fund, which is there to help the transition.

Great to talk to the Mayor of Rotterdam Carola Schouten. It was important to exchange on the Clean Industrial Deal and the opportunities for the Port of Rotterdam.

Had an in-depth conversation with Johan Rockström today. I cannot stress enough the importance on science informing our policy-making in these times of disinformation. I was keen to get his insights on the key climate topics of the moment.

At #ECOFIN EU Council today. Started with a first meeting with🇪🇪Finance Minister Jürgen Ligi. We agree on the importance of taxation for competitiveness. We need to keep a level playing field. We also had a good discussion on Pillar 1 and 2, and on the Energy Taxation Directive.

Great to meet again with 🇸🇪Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson. Competitiveness of our industry is on top of our minds. We discussed Pillar 1 and 2 and international taxation. We also exchanged on other topics such as tobacco taxation.

Good chat with Paola Tamma at the EU Tax Observatory this afternoon. It was great to see so many tax enthusiasts in the room. We had an in-depth exchange on CBAM, Pillar 1 and 2 and other top priorities on the taxation front.

Congratulations to Darragh O'Brien for his new role in the 🇮🇪 Irish government. Good to have a first exchange on a wide range of climate topics.

Just met with CEOs from Europe’s solar industry — key partners in driving our clean energy transition and strengthening Europe’s energy security. Scaling up solar means more sustainability, more competitiveness, and less reliance on external sources. ☀️🇪🇺

Very good discussion with the European Court of Auditors on climate and tax policy. We have a strong collaboration. Their work is vital to ensure EU funds and tax measures support a fair, effective clean transition. Scrutiny strengthens policy and public trust.

Great first discussion with ceramics industry reps on the sector’s key challenges. Competitiveness and decarbonisation are now inseparable. We must tackle three urgent issues: the climate crisis, economic resilience, and competitiveness. A crucial start to a much-needed dialogue.

Good to welcome Flanders Minister-President Matthias Diependaele this afternoon. We had a constructive discussion on the opportunities for Flanders and its industry. Competitiveness and climate action need to go hand in hand.

Great catching up with Minister maria panayiotou 🇨🇾 as Cyprus prepares for its EU Council Presidency in 2026. We discussed key preparations for the EU’s 2040 climate targets, and I look forward to working closely with her in the months ahead!
