WCMB were thrilled to host Sara Hamis for a research visit this week. It was great to hear her talk all about spatial-cumulant models and thank you and Johannes Borgqvist for letting us try so many delicacies too!

Another postdoc position available, come and work with us on spatial data analysis - great opportunity for a mathematician who wants to be based in a bio lab Centre for Human Genetics, but still keep close contact with the math bio world via WCMBlog tinyurl.com/ywp7kajx

Ever wanted an interactive lightning-fast solver for models in physics, chemistry, or biology? Do you have a web browser? I'm thrilled to announce VIsualPDE.com, built explicitly to solve PDE models interactively on most devices, written by Benjamin Walker Adam Townsend and I.

Great to hear so many fantastic talks and meet so many excellent researchers at the British Applied Mathematics Colloquium in Bristol. Yesterday I presented my research about the construction of travelling wave models using Lie symmetries of the Fisher KKP model.

Some people don't like it easy. Which is a relief because there are a lot of tough problems around. Oxford Mathematician Jess Crawshaw likes things to be difficult as she explains in our latest 'Me and My Maths' film.

It's almost as much of a cliché to say maths is not just sums & slog as to say it is. The Oxford Maths Festival doesn't care about definitions. Puzzles, games, craft & Tim Harford making sense of the world. Call it what you like. Ages 0-116. 13 & 14 May: mathsfest.web.ox.ac.uk

A fun morning of public engagement at WCMBlog for Oxford Mathematics masterclasses today - lots of fractals and Turing patterns! Plus an attempt to turn a lecture theatre full of year 9s into a differential adhesion model that worked surprisingly well (paper shows where they ended up!)

Trying to decide where to go first this morning at #smb2024 and like spatial data? Come along to our minisymposium in room 107 at 10am - highly spatially correlated with the coffee stands for your convenience
