New Protections for Airline Passengers with Disabilities U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced new protections for air travelers with disabilities, including higher standards for assistance, enhanced training, and penalties for mishandled wheelchairs.

An americanair gate agent was asking for $50 to seat a mother next to her 5-year-old daughter today on AA3209, STL-DCA. I spoke up. The airline did finally honor its family seating policy, but initially attempted to charge a fee. More training is required.
