The need for a longer-term ceasefire in #Gaza has never been greater. Hunger is spreading widely and people are growing increasingly desperate in their search food. We need more access. We need more supplies. We need lasting peace.

We’ve had to make the impossible choice to pause aid distributions in Northern Gaza. There’s an incredible level of desperation against the backdrop of immense humanitarian need. 🔗wfp.org/news/un-food-a… A famine doesn’t have to happen. But if things don’t change, it will.

In north Gaza, 1 in 6 children under 2 years old is acutely malnourished. An immediate humanitarian ceasefire is the only way to scale up the delivery of aid to those who need it most. wfp.org/news/childrens…

It is agonizingly painful to see such tragedy unfold right in front of our eyes. How can we explain all this to our kids? newyorker.com/news/essay/my-…

🆕 #Gaza: After a 14-truck convoy was turned away today, WFP food for 20,000 people was dropped into northern Gaza with support of the Jordanian Air Forces. WFP is determined to do whatever it takes to reach people in need. ⚠️ But to avert famine, we must have access by road.

Famine in the northern part of Gaza is imminent. 1.1 million people in Gaza are facing catastrophic hunger - the highest number of people ever recorded –anywhere, anytime. This is an entirely manmade disaster. And it can - and must - be halted.
