Airdrops are a last-resort solution to deliver life-saving food assistance to the most isolated communities, like this one in #SouthSudan ⤵️✈️ More support is urgently needed to help WFP South Sudan reach hunger hotspots, as overlapping crises threaten to worsen hunger.

April has marked the start of the lean season in #SouthSudan - a time when food runs low, and families face months of uncertainty before the next harvest. With needs growing every day, WFP South Sudan support remains a lifeline for families like Nykuoke's.

In flood-hit Unity State in #SouthSudan, World Food Programme is working with communities to turn invasive water hyacinth into eco-friendly cooking fuel🌱 Women dry, carbonize & transform the plant into briquettes, cutting firewood use & selling it at the market to earn extra income.


The lean season is the period between harvests when families often run out of food stocks. In #SouthSudan, it falls between April and August, when World Food Programme scales up support to deliver lifesaving assistance to families who rely on it to survive.


Do you know what Plumpy'Doz is? 🤔 It’s a nutrient-rich paste packed with essential vitamins & minerals to prevent malnutrition in children. In #SouthSudan, World Food Programme provides it alongside food distributions to protect the most vulnerable.


Malnutrition in childhood can lead to stunted growth and development, affecting future health Unfortunately, 2.1 million children are at risk of malnutrition in South Sudan World Food Programme is responding with specialised nutritious food to children, pregnant women & breastfeeding women
