Any organisation which puts its own ethos before the duty of care it has to those it purports to serve needs to question its values. #WFRtDS2024 #AssistedDying

At #wrtds2024 a compelling call for #assisteddying from Siobhan Malone McBarron, a cancer survivor now living with progressive muscular dystrophy. ā€˜My illness is my prison sentence…life-limiting conditions just add longevity to suffering.’ MyDeath, MyDecision

In many countries around the world, an assisted death is a valued and normal option as part of palliative care. A very moving tribute to the relationship between patient, family, and doctor. 11.4% of deaths in Vancouver Island are assisted. #WFRtDS2024 #WRtDS2024

My closing statement ā€œNobody knows better than us when we have endured enough suffering and when we are ready to go. Death is not the greatest loss of life. The greatest loss is what dies inside of us while we live, like our hope, dignity, and strengthā€.

When researching a sensitive topic like voluntary assisted dying (VAD), it’s crucial to rely on accurate, well-researched information from reliable sources to avoid the spread of misinformation. #knowyoursource #factsnotficition

Who exactly is legislation for assisted dying for? I would say it’s for those who are needlessly suffering. So why are some people missing the key point it’s to end suffering not lengthen it!
