Good news: a new trial to manage postpartum bleeding shows highly promising results. This could represent a major breakthrough in reducing maternal deaths. #HealthForAll x.com/WHO/status/165…

Postpartum haemorrhage affects ~24 million women per year and is the leading cause of #maternalmortality worldwide. This study finds that the condition can be identified and treated quicker by using a low-cost drape to measure blood loss and bundling World Health Organization (WHO) recommended treatments.

I’m very encouraged by the E-MOTIVE Trial results released today at #IMNHC2023 to treat postpartum hemorrhage, the #1 cause of maternal mortality. This new approach led by Uni of Birmingham and World Health Organization (WHO) could drastically improve women’s chances of surviving childbirth globally.

We’re so proud to have supported Prof Arri Coomarasamy OBE MBChB MD FRCOG FMedSci, Adam Devall and the E-MOTIVE Trial team in developing their Postpartum Haemorrhage clinical trial to rapidly identify and address potentially dangerous post birth bleeding, the biggest cause of maternal deaths worldwide.
