Access to water and sanitation is essential to universal health care This week, we hosted a Water and Sanitation for Urban Populations team in Ghana to explore opportunities to advocate and mobilize action to cocreate WASH services to improve public health for all, especially those living in urban areas.

With support from @Gavi, we're working with Ghana Health Service to finalize Mid-Level Management training modules for #EPI managers. These trainings will equip health workers at all levels with the requisite skills to strengthen immunization services and the broader health system.


Today, on International Day to End Obstetric Fistula, we joined UNFPA Ghana and partners at the Ho Teaching Hospital — one of the key sites offering free fistula repair surgeries. This initiative is part of a collective effort to eliminate obstetric fistula in Ghana by 2030.


Civil society is a crucial actor in Ghana’s #UHC journey. Today, our Technical Officer for Gender & Equity, George Atiim joined partners to discuss inequality monitoring towards identifying gender gaps in health services during the CSO Platform SDG 3 quarterly meeting.

As part of our commitment to shaping the next generation of public health leaders, we hosted students from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Department of Health Policy, Management & Economics to explore World Health Organization (WHO) policies, health governance & ways to bridge the gap between academia and real-world practice.


We supported NADMO GHANA to train 150+ responders from 9 districts on the Multi-sectoral Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) tool to enhance Ghana’s capacity for faster, coordinated, and life-saving disaster response. Read more➡️ bit.ly/3F7vXnS

Rotavirus causes 35–60% of severe acute diarrhoea in children under five in settings without vaccination. Today, we donated a Microplate Photometer and rotavirus rapid diagnostic kits to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to support laboratory testing & improve turnaround time for results.


This week, a WHO Ghana team is in Kumasi visiting sentinel surveillance sites. We began at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital — a key site supporting Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital — to assess if sample collection processes align with standards for early disease detection and response.



Partnerships are key to successful immunization efforts. To strengthen collaboration ahead of the HPV vaccine rollout, our Vaccine Initiative Officer, Michael Rockson Adjei, visited the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate. With a single dose, we can eliminate cervical cancer.
