Even after breaking a state record with a time of 4:02.25, Onalaska's Manny Putz took second as Grady Lenn of De Pere finished in 4:01.79. It was one of the most exciting races of Day 1 at the state meet and even after a runner-up finish, Manny was still gracious in defeat.

Such a well-spoken young man. That was my first time speaking directly with Manny but the way he articulated his words after a different finish than he imagined really left an impression on me. He will be successful in whatever he chooses to do in life.

The #Packers had a trade in place with another team earlier in the year, but the other team wouldn’t pay Alexander’s full $17M salary. Alexander didn’t want to take less and do the trade never happened. The die was cast early in the off-season.

NORSEMEN FALL SHORT - With hopes of their fourth-ever trip to the state tournament, Westby fell to Fennimore 3-2 in 8 innings. The Norsemen had the lead late but a walk to Ethan Sheckler in the 7th would knot things up then Tyson Starkey delivered the game-winning hit.
