Utica is Frozen here in March! It’s championship weekend, the end of the road in NCAA D-III men’s ice hockey with the Frozen Four in town. The host Pioneers take on the Curry Colonels in the semifinals with the winner advancing to play Hobart for the national title on Sunday!

Packed house with electric yet nervous energy at the Mastrovito Hyundai Rink at the Utica University Nexus Center as the Pioneers and Colonels remain scoreless after one period of play. A couple chances on each end but a tight defensive battle mostly so far.

We’re back even at 1-1 as Curry freshman defenseman Shane Carr finds the back of the net on the power play with just under 9 minutes to play in the third period. A couple of first year blueliners coming up big in this national semifinal contest. Buckle up for the finish!

Back at one of my favorites, Veterans Memorial Park in Little Falls. Baseball sectionals are underway, and we had an all-local Class B battle as the Mounties hosted Mt. Markham. Tied at 2 in the 5th, Little Falls’ bats came alive to win 7-4 and advance. See how it unfolded at 11!
