Education by BRC! This year, we continued our education project at schools around the Batumi bottleneck.🧑‍🏫 We focussed on assisting educational centers that are working with our recently published education booklet to raise awareness about birds and the environment!🦅🍀 🧵1/3

Together with Nature Conservation Georgia, we visited 300 students and 25+ teachers from 13 different schools! Including a workshop for 21 teachers who are currently teaching about birds in their respective schools. Read more: batumiraptorcount.org/news/2024/4/ed… 2/3

Last week I spent a great day with Wouter Vansteelant in the rice fields of the Tagus estuary! While we registered a total of 80+ bird species - the absolute highlight was the aggregation of >30.000 Black-tailed Godwits! #Ornithology 1/2

The drive back in the beautiful evening light was a real pleasure, especially with multiple fields still being actively plowed. 2/2

This year, we launched our Flyway Traineeship Program, funded by OSME! We welcomed Mitra Daneshvar (Iran) and Alyona Kaptyonkina (Kazakhstan) as our first trainees, as they joined the autumn count and learned to run and coordinate a standardized raptor monitoring project. 1/3
