Walt Whitman is in a shelter in place due to an online threat to our school. All staff and students are safe, and instruction continues. MCPD is on-site supporting our efforts. We will update the school community with information as it becomes available.

Parents: During a shelter in place, individuals are not permitted enter or leave the building. MCPD is currently onsite. Students and staff are safe and instruction is continuing. We will continue to send updates periodically.

UPDATE: MCPD is currently searching the exterior of the building and will shortly move onto the interior.

MCPD is still on scene at Walt Whitman High School. MCPS has evacuated staff and students. Officers continue to investigate the validity of the reported threat. More information will be released as it becomes available.
