A manhole cover is causing a hazard on the A591 near Shenstone Garage (Fuel station on the Kendal by pass). Our team have been out earlier today to assess and to ensure the safety of our road uses, one lane has been CLOSED ❌ to carry out immediate repair.

The U3200 at Piper Lane, Kirkby Thore to its junction with the #A66 will be CLOSED ❌ to all vehicles tomorrow from 8.30am until 3.30pm for essential and urgent repair works to improve the carriageway. Please plan your journey to avoid the route during these times.

From 22 July to 3 September, we will carry out works to stabilise the riverbank that supports the B6259 at Hazelgill, install erosion prevention measures, improve the current surface water drainage system and fully resurface the carriageway. Read more: bit.ly/3UFC3zj

We are responding to a sink hole on Church Street in Ambleside. This has been made safe and we are assessing the cause to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The route is accessible, however we kindly encourage you to avoid the area where possible to reduce disruptions.

Back in early May we completed all safety improvements and resurfacing on the North side section of our iconic Kirkstone Pass! The very last part of the scheme, to resurface parts of the southern end of the pass, will be scheduled for later in the year after the summer holidays.

Unfortunately we have just lost a key staff member for the weekend. We have managed to find cover for Sunday however today we have no choice but to end the service at 1500hrs. The last crossings today will therefore be 1440hrs from Ferry Nab and 1450hrs from Ferry House.

Our multi-million pound improvement scheme on the A595, Kirkstone Pass is on track to complete today at 5pm! The final resurfacing workings will put the finishing touches on this complex and challenging project, designed to make the pass safer and more resilient.
