What does a Chief AI Officer do? What are health AI challenges and opportunities from the vantage point of health systems? Who uses AI more, patients or clinicians? What do frontline clinicians need to know? What do I hope to see in 5-10 years? Thoughts: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ai-…

⚠️ A Canadian teen is in critical condition with presumptive bird flu. As the teen's condition worsened, health officials were struggling to answer a broader & potentially worrisome question: how the infection occurred. More in my new piece. Prayers 🙏 tinyurl.com/27cbh24m

How does ImmunoScore by Prenosis compare against the heavily questioned Epic Sepsis Model (ESM)? This paper in @NJEM_AI may provide some clues 🧬🔍: "FDA-Authorized AI/ML Tool for Sepsis Prediction: Development and Validation" | NEJM AI ai.nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… A thread ...

1/6 The answer seems to be buried in the supplementary Table S5. For the majority of septic patients (42/52~80%) the predictive value of the ImmunoScore is 2.2%-14.2%. This is in par with the Epic ESM score (and frankly fairly disappointing).

Amazing work by James Ford on a systematic review evaluating the evidence behind #SEP1 in Annals of Int Med. How does this work play into #sepsis care at the national level is yet to be seen, but raises important policy questions. Shamim Nemati Atul Malhotra, MD Christopher A.
