WPD is aware of recent reports of an earthquake that occurred just earlier this morning in Lebanon, NJ. Effects of the earthquake were felt in Waterbury, CT and other locations in CT. At this time there have been no reports of any injuries or damage as a result of the incident.

On August 1, 2024, at 2:20 PM, WPD officers responded to 495 Union St (Brass Mill Center Mall) regarding anonymous bomb threat. Upon further investigation, WPD determined the threat to be non-credible, and there was no danger present. The mall remains open for normal activities.

10/3/24, 4:50 PM : WPD is investigating a barricaded suspect at 43 Central Ave. Heavy police presence. Please avoid the area. Updates to follow. Thank you for your cooperation.

Update (10/3/24, 7:00 PM): The barricaded suspect at 43 Central Ave was safely taken into police custody without any injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
