A fantastic turnout at the Guy's and St Thomas' picket today. Doctors came out in strength and made sure they were heard all the way in Westminster by Wes Streeting. No dr wants to strike. But we’ve been forced into this position by a Government that refuses to value and retain NHS staff.

👏🏾 Wes Streeting lied about restoring doctors' pay and is desperately trying to change the narrative and shift blame. All I am seeing is Steve Barclay but with the colour red instead of blue

FIFTY TWO PERCENT OF F2s WITHOUT A JOB?! This isn't workforce planning, this is a workforce disaster. Time and time again, governments and senior medical "leaders" have clearly failed resident doctors on a multitude of issues

Imagine having to have a conversation with someone who speaks in such an inflammatory way. Wes Streeting has so much time to write letters and articles, maybe he can give us a straight answer on if doctors should be paid less than their assistants?

Had a great time on the pilot ultrasound guided lumbar puncture course at QAH today. Brilliantly informative and can't wait to put it into practise. Thanks to Ramkrishna Ramnauth and his team for running it

Had a lovely shift in ED. Everyone in a good mood, nice waiting time, even had a patient stop me as I walked to my car to thank me for our hard work! Days like this do remind you of how great it is to work in health. Wish we had the resources to make every day like this

The last resident doctor strike had more doctors striking than July 2023. You wouldn’t know it from the government’s spin and the media’s headlines. Doctors are standing together for full pay restoration and a safe NHS. The government must stop the rhetoric and move on pay.

The ever rising numbers in training numbers is a multifactorial issue that will need drastic action to fix. The most pressing of which imo is that training posts are the only source of job security in a landscape where LEDs & locums seem increasingly scarce

Two months into IMT. Even though I see the drawbacks and areas that need improving it has been quite enjoyable. Feel fortunate to have a supportive environment that allows me to attend clinics and observe procedural lists

There have been months of talks. We’re on the precipice of another job cycle. Tens of thousands of doctors will be turned away. Doctors need jobs & patients need doctors. Waiting lists up, patients in corridors. We need changes now to recruit & value doctors, not in 2 years.

Dr Raymond Effah (@wayoftheray) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You've had ample time to make these changes yet you're now holding them to ransom. Denying doctors fair conditions, employment and patients more doctors is completely unreasonable

Waiting lists are eye-wateringly long but 1/3 consultant posts are unfilled. £674 million on locum spend. The problem isn’t a lack of doctors, it’s a choice not to hire them.

Always this talk about revolutionising NHS IT with AI meanwhile the ward staff can't upload an ECG, and we're still writing on paper notes

“We’re asking to get round the table to talk about a realistic, sustainable and credible offer that works for doctors and also, crucially, works for patients.” Our chair Jack Fletcher speaks to Times Radio this morning
