Utterly horrific that the algorithm pushes these terms on TikTok to kids. This isn’t about free speech, it’s about child sexual abuse and violence against women.

1. It's striking how many terrorists have experienced a breakup shortly before carrying out a fatal attack. The Manchester attacker fits a familiar pattern: wife left him 6 months ago, he was also accused of rape. Misogyny so often implicated in run-up to marauding attacks.

Government announces fourth ban on online content which inspires real life violence at enormous scale. Will this ban ever be enforced? Without it being someone's job to do so, probably not.

Once rare, online strangulation porn was first banned back in 2008 because of its influence on men: driving them to commit real life, deliberate, intimate, extremely harmful violence on women. That ban never enforced, this is what we're left with. The new ban might work.

Why would women say they liked choking? Well they had no choice: "At the time I just thought this is what sex is I remember the concept of rough sex being glorified and normalised I never thought my experiences were negative It's only now I'm in a long term caring

This is an incredible thread on the multiple attempts to ban strangulation in porn. It seems the law has been there for over a decade, it just hasn’t been enforced

As a result of his and Mrs Longhurst's tireless work, the law was changed in 2008. I hope and pray that on what would have been Jane's 54th birthday, this or any updated law can finally be enforced as per this Government's recent pledge.

Incredible speech. Jane Longhurst would have been 54 today. Two decades ago the government banned the online content consumed by the man who killed Jane. A ban which never reached the tech firms. This week, the government says it will ban it again. Will this mean action, now?
